The 2011 Super Quik 5K run was held on Saturday, June 18th and got started at 8am under cloudy skies and a 70 degree temperature. The race was followed by an awards ceremony to present trophies and medals to each of the top three competitors in each age group.

The top male performer this year with a winning time of 16:50 was Jon Renneker, 18 of Catlettsburg, Kentucky. The top female performer this year with a winning time of 20:45 was Mandy Music of Ashland, Kentucky.

Some of the notable stories from the race was running veteran Richard Balmer, of Ironton, Ohio who has never missed any of the 16 Super Quik runs, which is a record. Richard will soon be 80 years old and just six months earlier had open heart surgery, which adds to the amazement of his dedication and exercise regimen to get back into shape. Cathy Clark, came all the way from Park City, Utah to run in the race when she found out about it. Leading by example even our company president Lynn Rice and CFO Tony Coriell ran in the race.

The response from all the participants was that this is one of the most organized and fun races to run in. Super Quik provided a top quality wicking running shirt as well as the now legendary “Best goodie bag in race history”. After the race everyone was able to enjoy fresh fruit, ice cream and drinks galore. Super Quik wants to thank everyone who attended and supported providing scholarships for local high school seniors. If you didn’t make it this year, consider attending the 2012 race.
